CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Business & Industry Council (BIC), comprised of more than 60 West Virginia trade associations and businesses representing more than 395,000 employees, honored Senator Sam Cann today for legislative excellence during a special meeting of the organization at the Bridgeport Conference Center, representatives announced.

“Senator Cann has been a leader in both the business community and the Legislature for more than two decades,” said BIC Chairman Chris Hamilton. “He is a champion for economic development and ideas that move the state forward.”

Hamilton said Cann supports the responsible growth of West Virginia’s energy industries, championed the recent “Project Launchpad” legislation (House Bill 4343) to spur technology-based economic development, and he advocated for an increase to the state’s minimum wage.

“Sam is a friend of our energy industries, infrastructure development, education, technology growth and the working women and men throughout our great state,” Hamilton said. “For those reasons and many more, the West Virginia Business & Industry Council is honoring Senator Cann for his work to move the state forward.”
